The LEAD program is a one-year cohort-based program applying best practices and recognized theoretical models of effective educational leadership for advancing medical education. Participants gain skills needed to be successful educational leaders. This national program is offered in four concurrent cohorts in each of the four regions of the AAMC Group on Educational Affairs. Upon completion, participants will be able to: 1) apply relevant theoretical frameworks to guide their ongoing leadership development and effective actions in various situations, 2) differentiate administration, management, and leadership, and explain the contribution of each to performing as an effective educational leader, 3) demonstrate leadership behaviors that include effective communication, supervision, strategic planning, and organizational development, 4) use reflective practice and feedback to develop and continuously refine their personal leadership style and effectiveness, and 5) develop supportive relationships with others to facilitate one’s leadership career aspirations.
